Meeting every 4th THURSDAY At 2.15pm
We celebrated Christmas with the hardly known seasonal opera Tzarinas Slippers by Tchaikovsky. This combined beautiful music, wonderful Russian singing, ballet, Cossacks and a dancing bear.
We entered the new year with Madam Butterfly by Puccini. This performance was recorded in Verona Coliseum on a warm balmy summer evening. We turned the central heating up to get in the spirit of the night. The scenery was spectacular and a chorus of hundreds.
February had us back in Italy for Pagliacci by Le-oncavello. We enjoyed Zeffirelli’s film version of the Opera. Pagliacci was sung by Placido Domingo, when he was in his prime both acting and singing. The passion of this tragic true story came to life.
Our future meetings are as follows,
22nd March The World’s Greatest Tenors
26th April Cosi Fan Tutti........Mozart
24th May Tosca.........Puccini
