Members were able to take full advantage of the fine weather to enjoy visits to Pashley Manor, Nymans and Sheffield Park Gardens during 2011 and it is hoped to expand the number of venues during 2012, weather permitting! I would therefore be pleased if members could suggest suitable visits of note by contacting me by email or telephone. Please remember, lifts can generally be arranged for those requiring transport.
As you may know, Julian Oakley has formed an interesting and important, new, related group entitled Practical Gardening with the object of encouraging members to become involved in discussing the nitty gritty of the techniques of physical gardening, such as seeding and planting, dead heading, composting, bugs and beasty control, backache, etc and I very much welcome this initiative, which will, I trust, lead to members proudly opening their gardens, however large or small, dry or wet, arboreal and/or floral to U3A members. To this end I would be delighted to hear from aspiring Monty Dons or Gertrude Jekells by telephone.
